Plastic

Plastic components place high demands on adhesion, appearance and durability. KSK combines coordinated pretreatment and coating methods into a stable overall process that reliably handles even complex geometries.

During trimming and preparation, components are mechanically reworked to remove sprues, burrs and manufacturing residues. At the same time, sensitive areas are carefully prepared and edges are smoothed. This step ensures a uniform starting surface and is crucial for adhesion, appearance and process stability during subsequent coating.

In our multi-stage power-wash system, components are thoroughly cleaned and degreased. Several cleaning and rinsing zones, followed by a final treatment with demineralised water, remove even the finest residues. This ensures consistently high surface quality – a key prerequisite for reproducible results in high-volume coating.

During flame treatment, the surface is thermally activated, increasing the surface energy of the plastic. This improves wettability and enables significantly better adhesion of subsequent coats. Particularly with plastics that are difficult to coat, this process creates a stable and durable bond between the material and the coating.

Fluorination is a chemical surface activation process used particularly for complex component geometries. It enables uniform treatment even of hard-to-reach areas and provides lasting improvements in adhesion properties. This allows even demanding components to be coated reliably and with consistent process control.

As part of the tracking process, components are clearly marked to ensure unambiguous identification and traceability within production. This supports quality assurance and ensures transparent processes throughout the entire value chain, particularly for high volumes and complex supply chains.

Carbon

Carbon components require the utmost precision in surface finishing. KSK draws on its extensive experience and proven processes from plastic finishing and adapts them specifically to the material’s special properties.

Carbon components are mechanically finished to remove excess material, burrs and production-related residues. At the same time, sensitive surface areas are specifically prepared. Smoothing and levelling the structure creates a uniform base that is crucial for the subsequent coating and a high-quality final result.

In the multi-stage power-wash system, carbon components are thoroughly cleaned and degreased. Several coordinated cleaning and rinsing zones reliably remove particles and residues without damaging the sensitive surface. This creates a clean and stable basis for the subsequent coating processes.

Systematic tracking makes carbon components uniquely identifiable. This ensures complete traceability within production and supports quality assurance. Particularly in complex projects and high volumes, this step makes a significant contribution to process reliability.

Metal

In addition to a high-quality appearance, metal components require reliable corrosion protection above all. KSK combines chemical pretreatment processes with high-performance coating systems to create durable and resilient surfaces.

During pickling, oxide layers, scale and impurities are removed chemically. This activates the metal surface and optimally prepares it for the subsequent coating processes. This step is crucial for uniform adhesion and the long-term quality of the coating.

Zinc phosphating creates a finely crystalline conversion coating on the metal surface. It improves the adhesion of subsequent coats while also increasing corrosion protection. It therefore forms an important basis for durable and resilient coatings.

For aluminium components, chrome-free passivation provides a protective conversion coat that significantly increases corrosion resistance. At the same time, the process meets modern environmental requirements and provides a reliable basis for subsequent coatings.

Fine seam sealing is used to seal weld seams, joints and interfaces in a targeted manner. This prevents moisture ingress and reduces susceptibility to corrosion. It increases the service life of the components and ensures consistently high quality, even under demanding operating conditions.
